Picture of Dynamic Model of Diversity

Positive Passive Engagement:
Conversations open to diversity issues

Positive Active Engagement:
Serving on diversity committees, raising awareness, increasing access and retention in higher education and employment.

Negative Passive Engagement:
Derogatory comments about diversity

Negative Active Engagement:
Hostile language or behavior against diversity or people perceived as different.

Example: Postmoderns might be passively engaged and agree to disagree, while Critical Postmoderns would be more directed, compelled to take action.
